Community Nap Event: Beth Secor, storytime collaboration with (NAP) Napping Affects Performance

About Beth:
Beth Secor is a Houston-based artist, writer, and curator currently represented by INMAN Gallery. She has a master's degree in fine art from the University of Houston and is currently an adjunct professor at University of Houston Downtown and Houston Community College Central. Additionally, she curates exhibitions for the "Celebrating Diversity through Art" series, a partnership with JPMorgan Chase and Art League Houston. Her blog "Every Friggin' Gallery in the Whole Damn Town" can be read at In 2008, her embroidered portraits were included in the exhibition Landfall at the Museum of London, England. Although some cots and a rug are provided, for community naps the bringing of additional blankets, pillows or mats is recommended.

About (NAP): (NAP) is a performance and participation project designed and organized by Emily Sloan providing community naps in collaboration with various performance projects, performances involving the delivery of naps to various sites/contexts around Houston, and an ongoing free nap site at Art League Houston. The free nap site can be utilized anytime during Art League Houston hours, Mondays through Fridays 9am-5pm and Saturdays from 11am-5pm. Stop in anytime, or reserve a spot by calling: 713-582-1198.
